A protest march is underway from the first building of Tbilisi State University toward Parliament under the slogan, "No to Russian elections"

“No to Russian elections” – under this slogan, a protest is taking place in Tbilisi.

Opposition political parties, members of non-governmental organizations, and citizens initially gathered near the first building of Tbilisi State University, from where they are currently heading toward Parliament in a march.

The protesters are holding banners with slogans such as: “Freedom to the regime’s prisoners,” “Dream, your rule is called a crime, leave!” Participants are protesting against the local self-government elections scheduled for October 4.

Near the TSU building, the Georgian Public Assembly also issued a statement. According to the assembly members, they join the refusal of eight opposition political parties to participate in the local self-government elections.

Representatives of the assembly stated that it is impossible to consider these “elections” legitimate because they undermine the country’s democratic processes.
