A targeted attack is underway against Batumelebi – a truly independent media outlet founded by journalist and political prisoner Mzia Amaghlobeli – writes Giorgi Gakharia, leader of For Georgia, on platform X.

According to him, Georgian Dream is once again using state institutions for political retribution.

"This time, it’s the Revenue Service being used as a tool of retaliation, while pro-government propaganda media are allowed to accumulate tens of millions of lari in tax debt without any issues.

This is not a financial dispute – this is a direct attack on media freedom and a personal vendetta against Mzia Amaghlobeli.

It is a deliberate attempt to extinguish independent journalism in Georgia," Gakharia writes.
