+6The cancellation of visa liberalization, of course, would be very bad. The Prime Minister said that he is ready to go to Brussels and listen to the arguments, what the problem is, why the laws are a problem - so far we have not heard a single argument, why transparency can be bad, - the Secretary General of the Georgian Dream Kakha Kaladze told journalists in response to a question about visa liberalization.
According to him, the cancellation of visa liberalization would be a punishment for the Georgian people.
"Unfortunately, this blackmail continues. For years, Georgia has been under pressure and blackmail, there is an explanation for this, we have talked many times about what is behind all this. Today, the Georgian people and Georgia are being blackmailed by cancelling visa liberalization. This, of course, would be very bad. The Prime Minister said that he is ready to go to Brussels and listen to the arguments, what the problem is, why the aforementioned laws are a problem. So far, we have not heard a single argument, why can transparency be bad, why is it a problem? This is pressure and they are using the visa liberalization issue for blackmail... If this decision is made, of course, it will be injustice, it will be a punishment for the Georgian people. Of course, it is bad when you are deprived of this good, why should anyone be happy about the termination of visa liberalization, however, on the other side are the interests of the country, the future of the country and the interests of the Georgian people," Kaladze noted.
He said he would be happy if economic conditions were created so that people would go on vacation, not to work.
“When there is a possibility to travel without a visa, of course, many people will go, they are more developed countries, if we compare them to Georgia. Georgia is a developing country. We have peace in the country, our goal is to catch up and overtake the European economy, this is very important. The policy pursued by the Georgian Dream is aimed at maintaining peace. If we do not have peace, we will not have economic development. I would be happy if as few people as possible leave the country, if we create such conditions in the country, if there is such an economic situation that people go for vacation, not to work,” Kaladze noted.
