It is unthinkable to own a plot of land, a living space in the region and seize state land in the capital in order to build a house, - the mayor of the capital says in a video message released via social media, where he touched on the eviction underway on Tvalchrelidze Street and provided an explanation.
According to Kaladze, the main hero of the media became a citizen who owns a plot of land in Ozurgeti, five cars and a scooter, and it is clear that the Tbilisi City Hall could not offer this person anything.
“I don’t want to go into details, but let’s see who are the people who, according to the opposition media, have been left homeless after today’s eviction. We can present documents, which, for example, record a person with IDP status who received a residential area several years ago and sold it.
The main hero of the media became a citizen who owns a plot of land in Ozurgeti, 5 cars and a scooter, and it is clear that the Tbilisi City Hall could not offer this person anything. The 5 cars and 1 scooter are registered in his name. A land plot in the village of Dzimiti in Ozurgeti is registered in his wife’s name. This person has been verbally and physically abusing law enforcement officers and media representatives all day long, claiming that Tbilisi City Hall has not offered him anything. Obviously, Tbilisi City Hall could not offer this person anything, because he has a house, a plot of land, cars, etc.,” said Kakha Kaladze.
In addition, according to the Tbilisi mayor, the municipality has already exposed the people behind construction on state lands in the past, who were found to have a number of properties.
"You probably remember what an aggressive campaign was going on when the Tbilisi City Hall tightened measures against illegal construction on seized lands. A huge force was opposing the law and the protection of state property. You also remember how we exposed the people behind these constructions, who had a lot of property and were trying to seize state lands by force. Such an attitude is unthinkable. For example, if I owned a house or a plot of land in the region and decided to come to the capital and take over the municipality's land and build something there, we all agree that this would be wrong. I am not opposing anyone, but I will not allow anyone to trample the interests of the municipality and the image of the institution," Kakha Kaladze noted.
