Tamar Taliashvili: I conveyed important messages to Donald Trump that we have for the United States, which express that the Georgian government is ready to open a new chapter in our relations

“I conveyed important messages to Donald Trump that we have for the United States, which emphasize that the Georgian government is ready to turn a new page in our relations,” stated Tamar Taliashvili, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, in a statement made after presenting her credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

As Taliashvili noted, “the meeting took place in a very warm and friendly atmosphere and was attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.”

“Today was an important day for Georgian-American relations. I had the honor of presenting my credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump. I also conveyed the goodwill wishes of the Georgian government, the Georgian people, the Prime Minister, and the President of Georgia, along with their congratulations and the important messages we have for the United States, which emphasize that the Georgian government is ready to turn a new page in our relations, based on mutual benefit, to strengthen our partnership and further enhance the people-to-people relations that currently exist.

I would like to note that the meeting took place in a very warm and friendly atmosphere, and it was attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

I want to express my gratitude to the U.S. State Department for making it possible to hold this important ceremony with Georgia in the shortest possible time. I would like to reiterate that we received significant support to ensure that these procedures were carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.

It is worth noting that yesterday, I also had a very interesting and important meeting with the U.S. Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Monica Crowley. This meeting was held in a very friendly atmosphere.

During these meetings, we had the opportunity to discuss strengthening Georgia-U.S. relations and the action plan that will be outlined and serve as a guide to ensure that our future plans and cooperation are strong and robust,” the ambassador stated after the meeting, according to the agency’s release.
