The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released information regarding the arrest of Luka Kurtanidze

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released information regarding the arrest of Eldar [Luka] Kurtanidze, former MP from the “Georgian Dream” party and veteran wrestler.

"Officers of the Kobuleti District Division of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative and investigative actions, have arrested E.K., born in 1972, on charges of domestic violence and violation of the obligations stipulated by a protective order.

The crime is punishable by up to two years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the accused violated the obligation imposed by the protective order issued by the court—he communicated with his former wife and inflicted physical violence on her.

Law enforcement officers arrested E.K. as a defendant.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 126¹ and 381¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement reads.
