The attack on Juansher Burchuladze and the arrest of several people is actually an attack and arrest against Gharibashvili’s entourage. They are in conflict with each other, - said Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of the coalition Lelo - Strong Georgia, thus responding to the detention of the former Deputy Minister of Defense and two other people by the State Security Service.

As Elisashvili noted, “This is an internal clan conflict and they want to arrest Gharibashvili’s clan”.

“Nothing special is happening in the Ministry of Defense. These arrests of former high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense are not related to the embezzlement of the Ministry of Defense budget and corruption. This is an internal clan struggle. Georgian Dream is in crisis. The European Union has expressed very strict position, the US administration does not contact them, it is a fact. They are in crisis and have started fighting each other. The attacks against Burchuladze and these arrests are, in fact, attacks and arrests against Gharibashvili's entourage. The Ministry of Defense, corruption, the fight against corruption have nothing to do with it. This is an internal clan conflict and they want to catch and destroy the Gharibashvili clan and they are at odds with each other,” said Aleko Elisashvili.

For information, the State Security Service of Georgia has detained former Deputy Minister of Defense Giorgi Khaindrava and two more individuals. As reported by the State Security Service of Georgia, as a result of the operational-search and investigative actions carried out by the employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service, former Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia Giorgi Khaindrava, former Head of the Procurement Department of the same ministry Vladimer Ghudushauri and a close relative of the then Minister of Defense, Vladimer Mkheidze, have been detained on the basis of a court ruling. According to the agency, the investigation conducted at this stage has revealed that the criminal group developed and implemented a plan according to which 1,333,728 GEL was embezzled from the Georgian state budget.
