“Yesterday, we made chicken cutlets using [Giorgi] Akhobadze’s recipe, and it coincided with news about sanctions, so we enjoyed them even more deliciously. I want to tell everyone serving the regime that much better sanctions are coming,” said journalist Nika Katsia, who is accused of drug-related crimes, during a court hearing.
The hearing is being presided over by Judge Tamar Mchedlishvili.
“I greet everyone for whom justice is a matter of dignity… Yesterday, we made chicken cutlets using Akhobadze’s recipe, and it coincided with news about sanctions, so we enjoyed them even more deliciously. I want to tell everyone serving the regime that much better sanctions are coming,” Nika Katsia stated.
Regarding today’s court proceedings, the hearing continues with the examination of evidence. According to lawyer Nino Lominadze, an expert from the Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau will be questioned to confirm that no fingerprints of Nikoloz Katsia were found on the packaging seized from him.
The lawyer explained that while no fingerprints of the accused were found on the narcotic substance, DNA was detected. However, she raises the question, “Why are there no fingerprints if DNA was found and there was contact with the packaging?”
Additionally, according to the lawyer, another individual, a friend of Nikoloz Katsia, will also be questioned. Katsia had arranged to meet this friend at a rally, was waiting for him, and had no intention of going anywhere else. “This information provided today is essentially significant for the court and the defense,” she said.
For reference, Nika Katsia was charged under Article 260, Part 6 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the illegal acquisition and possession of a large amount of narcotic substances.
This offense carries a penalty of 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment. Nika Katsia was detained on December 7.
