Grigol Gegelia: “Sanctions now cover various circles. I want everyone complicit in the Georgian Dream regime’s crimes to realize that their actions are known to the West. They will have to remain in the company of China, Iran, Venezuela, and Nauru alongside Georgian Dream”

“This is the only fate that those complicit in the crimes of this regime will firmly face,” said Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of “Lelo-Strong Georgia,” commenting on Lithuania’s imposition of visa sanctions on 10 more Georgian citizens.

According to Grigol Gegelia, this is a clear statement that EU member states are closely monitoring events in Georgia on a daily basis, and all sanctioned individuals will be isolated from the civilized world.

“The government sanctioned by the West has fled to China. Yesterday, Lithuania expanded the list of sanctioned individuals, which no longer includes only high-ranking political officials but now also encompasses judges, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and various other circles. This is a clear statement that EU member states are monitoring events in Georgia daily. As a result, the list of sanctioned individuals is expanding and no longer includes only political officials. I want every false witness, every police officer, regime propagandists, and everyone—willingly or unwillingly—complicit in the crimes committed by ‘Georgian Dream’ to understand once and for all that their names and actions are known to Western states. Consequently, they will be isolated from the civilized world and will have to remain in the company of China, Iran, Venezuela, and Nauru alongside ‘Georgian Dream.’ This is the only fate that those complicit in the crimes of this regime will firmly face,” Gegelia stated.

At the same time, he responded to the “Georgian Dream” parliamentary delegation’s visit to China, noting that “the ‘Georgian Dream,’ sanctioned by the West, has sought refuge in China.”

“During the official visit, the ‘Georgian Dream’ party flag was displayed, indicating that the ‘Georgian Dream’ political party visited the Communist Party. It is positive that Mr. Volski has finally returned to his communist roots. However, it is deplorable that the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime is trying to present China as a counterweight strategic partner to the West. I want to emphasize that communist China is not and cannot be a counterweight to the European Union and NATO as a guarantor of Georgia’s security and its main strategic partner. In a purely communist tradition, the ‘Khots’ [a derogatory term for ‘Georgian Dream’ supporters] claim that the purpose of the party meeting was to deepen relations between the countries, which once again proves that in the Russian-Chinese mentality of ‘Georgian Dream,’ the party and the state are completely conflated. A party that, until recently, was a member of the European Socialists—before being expelled—is now embracing China’s Communist Party. A party that promised its voters dignity and peace on the path to Europe is now officially recognized by the EU as a party working against Europe with Kremlin tactics. Against the backdrop of regional states like Moldova and Armenia signing crucial strategic agreements to strengthen their national interests, and amidst historic shifts in the region, new peace agreements, and the formation of new transit routes, Georgia is completely excluded from all positive processes. Instead of lobbying for national interests, the government, which killed the Anaklia port project and Georgia’s development prospects, is now openly flirting with autocratic states that oppose the EU and NATO. This is precisely the Russian agenda—a Georgia that lacks its own sovereign foreign policy voice, calls its enemy a ‘friend’ and its friend an ‘enemy,’ dismisses the best professionals and patriots from the foreign service, and facilitates the complete demise of Georgia’s foreign and national interests. Today, ‘Georgian Dream’ is executing a special operation of Russian foreign intelligence, and that is why every patriotic Georgian must do everything to fight against ‘Georgian Dream,’ using every front and instrument available,” Gegelia stated.

As a reminder, Lithuania has imposed visa sanctions on 10 more Georgian citizens, prohibiting them from entering the country. According to information published on the website of the Lithuanian Migration Department, the sanctions were imposed on: Judge Nino Galustashvili, Judge Jvebe Nachkebia, Judge Irakli Shvangiradze, Judge Viktor Metreveli, Prosecutor Mari Meshveliani, Prosecutor Natia Tatiashvili, Chairman of the Adjara Government Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Member of Parliament Mariam Lashkhi, Member of Parliament Nino Tsilosani, and Head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Razhden Kuprashvili. In total, according to the Lithuanian Migration Department’s search system, 112 Georgian citizens are currently subject to visa restrictions.
