Luka Kurtanidze’s lawyer will propose a bail of 50,000 GEL to the court

The lawyer of former “Georgian Dream” MP and veteran wrestler Luka Kurtanidze, Ivane Meparishvili, is filing a motion with the court requesting that Kurtanidze be released without any pretrial detention measures.

As he told journalists outside Batumi City Court, he will offer a bail of 50,000 GEL as an alternative measure.

At today’s hearing, the court will consider what preventive measure to apply against the detained former MP.

The Prosecutor’s Office is requesting the strictest measure — pretrial detention.

For reference, former “Georgian Dream” MP and veteran wrestler Luka Kurtanidze has been charged by the Prosecutor’s Office with domestic violence, intentional damage to a family member’s property, and failure to comply with the requirements and obligations set by a restraining order — charges that carry a sentence of up to five years in prison.
