Luka Kurtanidze has been sentenced to pretrial detention as a measure of restraint

Former “Georgian Dream” MP and veteran wrestler Luka Kurtanidze has been placed in pretrial detention as a measure of restraint. The hearing was held at Batumi City Court.

The next court session is scheduled for September 17 at 12:00 PM.

The Prosecutor’s Office requested the strictest preventive measure — detention — while the defense proposed bail in the amount of 50,000 GEL.

Luka Kurtanidze is charged with domestic violence, intentional damage to a family member’s property, and failure to comply with the requirements and obligations set by a restraining order.

These charges are punishable by up to five years of imprisonment.
