Aleko Elisashvili calls information that “Lelo” and Gakharia’s party are planning to nominate him as a candidate for mayor of Tbilisi a “big lie”

According to Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo - Strong Georgia, the information spread in the media that he will be a candidate for Tbilisi mayor in the self-government elections scheduled for October 4 is false.

“Unfortunately, Rustavi 2 is gradually becoming better at lying than Imedi and Post TV. Yesterday you spread information that our party and the Gakharia political group are nominating me as a candidate for mayor on July 31 - this story was a lie. July 31 will come and let's see if they nominate me or not. It's easy to check, wait 2 days and you'll know whether they will nominate me, or who they will nominate at all," Elisashvili said.

When asked by a journalist whether there is any discussion regarding his candidacy, Aleko Elisashvili replied that "there is discussion regarding many candidacies."

"Wait until July 31 and you will realize that you have told a very big lie," Elisashvili told the journalist.

In addition, he also spoke about the local elections and noted that the elections scheduled for October 4 are very important.

"The local government elections are the most important in the country because this is the first-level government. The problems that people need the most should be solved by the local government, both the municipal councils, the district administrations, and the city hall. Our government, the traitors, is only concerned with deceiving us before the elections and doing nothing after the elections, while stealing money," Elisashvili said.
