Giorgi Bachiashvili: Now it is the time of "Mkhedrioni" of the 21st century in Georgia - I am a captive not a prisoner

This process began around me 2 years ago. At that time, there was still democracy in the country, but then revenge began. I refused to engage in anti-Western propaganda, - the former Director General of the Co-Investment Fund, Giorgi Bachiashvili, stated at the trial in the Tbilisi Court of Appeal.

According to him, despite the ongoing trials against him in court, he did not want to leave the country, but was forced to do so.

"This process around me began 2 years ago, when there was still democracy in the country, but then revenge started. I refused to accept anti-Western propaganda. I have zero trust in the judiciary, there is no state institution left that I trust. This trial is an attempt at political order.

I wanted to leave the country when I received a letter saying that I would be suppressed in prison.

Anri Okhanashvili met me on the plane, where I was covered in a bag. I am not a prisoner, I am a captive, the fact that they found me in white boots and a T-shirt is a lie. No one was questioned about this case and no procedures were carried out. The State Security Service and Airzena were involved in the story of my kidnapping."

Later, in prison, an executioner was brought from Ksani prison, who immediately started beating me, swearing, hitting me with a glass and breaking my head.

I remember the time of "Mkhedrioni", now it is the time of "Mkhedrioni" of the 21st century.

My court hearings were closed, the court had the final say. The court was not interested in my position.

In prison, I was cut off from the outside world. They forbade me from communicating with my lawyers, so that I could not call and tell them about what happened in prison, and they did not let me call the public defender either.

They did not record my symptoms in the hospital. The prosecutor says that this story has nothing to do with the case. The same goes for this court, when you all prepared us and then postponed the trial and then scheduled it again, my lawyer had to come from abroad. Give us time to prepare.

Justice has never been served against me," Giorgi Bachiashvili said.
