Even if everything were in accordance with the law, the fact that the German ambassador is renting an apartment from the opposition leader is already immoral, - Rati Ionatamishvili, a member of the Georgian Dream, said while commenting on media reports that the German ambassador, Peter Fischer, is renting an apartment in Tbilisi owned by Mamuka Khazaradze's family.
As Ionatamishvili writes on social media, Mamuka Khazaradze and the German ambassador are obliged to provide explanations as soon as possible, because each day without an answer "deepens suspicions, including regarding political corruption."
"So far, what is clear about the scandal between the Khazaradze family and the German Embassy is that nothing is clear at all. The public does not know whether there is an agreement between the parties. If there is an agreement, there is a suspicion that it is either fictitious or the Khazaradze family did not pay taxes. However, despite the fraud confirmed by the court verdict and two international arbitrations, it is unlikely that Khazaradze would be so careless and stupid as to hide the budget tax incurred as a result of renting out the house. Perhaps we are dealing with political corruption and the German Embassy is not paying any money, while Ambassador Fischer himself lives in a luxurious apartment based on Khazaradze's goodwill. In any case - if everything were in accordance with the law, the fact that the German ambassador is renting an apartment from the opposition leader is already immoral. However, what is interesting is that in all likelihood, not everything is in accordance with the law. Whatever the case, both Khazaradze and Ambassador Fischer are obliged to the Georgian society to provide explanations regarding the scandal surrounding them as soon as possible, because each subsequent day without an answer deepens suspicions, including regarding political corruption," Rati Ionatamishvili writes on Facebook.
