The offer of a plea bargain is very insulting and is tantamount to burying someone alive, - Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of the Batumelebi and Netgazeti, said during the ongoing trial at the Batumi City Court.
Amaglobeli once again emphasized that slapping Batumi Police Chief Irakli Dgebuadze was not an attack on a police officer.
“The first thing I have to talk about is the plea bargain proposed by the prosecutor’s office. The lawyers failed to voice my position, I will not sign this plea agreement, the offer is very insulting and tantamount to burying myself alive. What happened was not an attack. Presenting a slap as an attack is evil, I don’t know what the law is. I have been thinking about this for seven months. From the very first day of my arrest, I have not evaded responsibility towards the so-called victim Dgebuadze. About ten investigators wrapped up and brought the case to court so that no questions were asked and, in my opinion, they were not interested. If the investigators had asked professional questions and not conducted a biased investigation, this case would not have been brought to court with the classification of an attack. [Irakli Dgebuadze] promised me a sentence of 4 to 7 years, and the prosecutor’s office also joined him. Now it’s time for the court to consider my case and my punishment," said Mzia Amaglobeli.
