Revenue Service: The statement by Khazaradze and his party colleagues claiming they discovered a “technical misunderstanding” is false - they only approached the Revenue Service after media reports surfaced, followed by the initiation of an investigation

The Revenue Service has labeled as false the statement that the Khazaradze family independently discovered a “technical misunderstanding” and voluntarily settled the outstanding tax debt to the state budget.

According to the Revenue Service’s statement, the Khazaradze family only approached the agency with a request for tax declarations after media reports emerged claiming that no contract existed between the embassy and the family, and only after this did the Revenue Service begin investigating the matter.

The agency reports that it has requested relevant documentation from the Khazaradze family, the Chamber of Notaries, and the Public Registry “to determine whether a lease agreement actually existed.”

“Given the high public interest, we would like to once again address the public relationship between the Khazaradze family and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, which the Revenue Service is currently investigating.

We emphasize that the statement by Khazaradze and his party colleagues, claiming they discovered a ‘technical misunderstanding’ and independently settled the outstanding debt to the budget, is false.

The Khazaradze family only approached the Revenue Service with a request for tax declarations after media reports surfaced regarding the absence of a contract between the parties, and subsequently, the Revenue Service initiated an investigation into the matter.

At this time, for the purpose of thoroughly investigating the issue, the Revenue Service has requested documentation from the Khazaradze family, as well as information from the Chamber of Notaries and the Public Registry, to determine whether a contract actually existed between the parties.

Additionally, the Revenue Service has requested bank transaction records from the Khazaradze family to establish the actual amount of income received from the Federal Republic of Germany, in order to subsequently verify compliance with budget settlement obligations.

The Revenue Service calls on the Khazaradze family to cooperate with the agency and promptly provide all necessary documentation for a thorough investigation of the matter,” reads the statement issued by the Revenue Service.
