Also today, a session of the Central Election Commission was held. The Commission approved the schedule of electoral activities for the October 4 elections and determined various important election-related matters.

On October 4, citizens of Georgia will elect 2,058 members of 64 municipal councils through both proportional and majoritarian systems, as well as 64 mayors.

Except for cases provided by law, the municipal representative body elections will be conducted using electronic means – almost 90% of voters will cast their votes using verification and ballot-counting devices. A total of 3,051 polling stations will be opened across the country, of which 2,284 will use electronic voting, while 767 will follow the traditional method.

From today, all legal provisions, permissions, and prohibitions associated with the announcement of elections are in effect. Additionally, the rules for conducting the pre-election campaign (agitation) and the regulations regarding the prohibition of using budgetary funds or official positions for campaign purposes have also come into force.

The election administration will act in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, political neutrality, and professionalism, and will operate under high ethical standards of conduct. At the same time, we call on all interested parties involved in the election to actively participate, observe, and objectively and fairly assess the electoral process,” said Natia Ioseliani.
