Parties For Georgia, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, and Strong Georgia – Lelo, For the People, Freedom Square have already applied to the CEC to participate in local self-government elections

According to Natia Ioseliani, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), the parties “For Georgia,” “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia,” and “Strong Georgia – Lelo, For the People, Freedom Square” have already applied to the CEC to participate in the local self-government elections.

She further stated that two political parties, which were not registered in the parliamentary elections and do not have representatives in the Georgian Parliament, have applied to the CEC Chairperson to participate in the local self-government elections. These parties are “Conservatives for Georgia” and “Homeland, Language, and Faith.”

“As you know, for political parties to participate in elections, their leaders must submit an application to the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission.

I would like to note that, following the announcement of the municipal elections but no later than the 57th day before the elections, which is August 8, a party that was registered during the last parliamentary elections or has a representative in the Georgian Parliament has the right to apply to the Central Election Commission and request participation in the elections. I would also like to mention that three political parties have already taken advantage of this opportunity: ‘For Georgia,’ ‘Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia,’ and ‘Strong Georgia – Lelo, For the People, Freedom Square’ have already submitted the relevant applications to us.

Political parties that were not registered in the parliamentary elections and do not have representatives in the Georgian Parliament had the opportunity to apply to the CEC Chairperson from January 1 to July 14, inclusive. At this time, two such political parties have applied to the Central Election Commission: one is ‘Conservatives for Georgia,’ and the other is ‘Homeland, Language, and Faith,’” stated Natia Ioseliani.
