Prosecutor on Nino Datashvili’s Expertise: I emphasize that if the defense had not submitted medical documentation of such content, there would have been no need for an expertise from the prosecution’s side

Prosecutor Davit Kazarashvili addressed the issue of appointing an expertise for Nino Datashvili, who is detained on charges of attacking a mandate holder, noting that the necessity for the expertise was not prompted by any evidence obtained by the prosecution but directly stems from the content of the medical documentation submitted by the defense, “where a specific accompanying illness is explicitly mentioned.”

As the prosecutor stated, such expertise is conducted for many individuals, and the purpose is not to implement punitive measures against anyone, as is wrongly emphasized, but to determine the health condition of the accused.

“Due to high public interest, we wish to address the statements made and the disinformation spread regarding the expertise appointed for Nino Datashvili.

First and foremost, it is very unfortunate that we have to discuss this issue publicly, as it concerns the personal information of a specific individual, and as a rule, we should not speak about it so openly. However, since the issue was raised by the defense itself, we are compelled to state our position.

Regarding the expertise, it was prompted not by any evidence obtained by the prosecution but directly by the content of the medical documentation submitted by the defense, where a specific accompanying illness is explicitly mentioned. I emphasize once again that if the defense had not submitted medical documentation of such content, there would have been no need for an expertise from the prosecution’s side.

I would also like to stress that such expertise is conducted for many individuals, and the purpose is not to implement punitive measures against anyone, as is wrongly emphasized, but to determine the health condition of the accused.

Once again, I want to say that in such cases, regardless of the identity of the accused, an appropriate expertise is appointed and conducted. Believe me, this expertise is neither related to the torture of a person nor a method of punishment, as it is wrongly presented to the public. Within the framework of the expertise, only an interview is conducted with the individual, and their health condition is assessed and determined based on observation,” the prosecutor stated.
