Giorgi Gakharia: Mzia Amaglobeili is a symbol of an unbroken, strong person - the regime lost the main thing with her: the battle for dignity

Mzia Amaghlobeli is a symbol of an unbreakable, strong person, and in her, the regime has lost the main battle – the fight for dignity – this is how Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the “For Georgia” party, responds to the sentencing of Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti,” to 2 years of imprisonment.

As Giorgi Gakharia writes on his Facebook page, “Georgian Dream” today passed a verdict primarily on itself.

“‘Georgian Dream’ crossed political and legal ‘red lines’ long ago, and today it has gone beyond all human and moral boundaries, passing a verdict first and foremost on itself. Mzia Amaghlobeli is a symbol of an unbreakable, strong person, and in her, the regime has lost the main battle – the fight for dignity. Our support is with Mzia Amaghlobeli!” Gakharia writes on social media.

For reference, Judge Nino Sakhelashvili of the Batumi City Court sentenced Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti,” to 2 years of imprisonment.

The judge reclassified the charge against Mzia Amaghlobeli. Specifically, she was charged under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to resistance, threats, or violence against a public order protector or other representative of the authorities.
