Nino Datashvili's trial underway in Tbilisi City Court - representatives of German, Danish, Dutch and EU embassies attending the process

The trial of activist Nino Datashvili, who was arrested on charges of assaulting a bailiff, is underway in the Tbilisi City Court.

The defendant Datashvili is also attending the hearing. She was greeted with applause by those sitting in the hall. Representatives of the embassies of Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the European Union are also present at the trial.

The admissibility of evidence will be discussed at today's trial, and the measure of pre-trial detention imposed on Datashvili will be reviewed.

For information, Nino Datashvili was arrested on June 20 at the Tbilisi City Court for the incident that occurred on June 9. She was charged under Part 3 of Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to assaulting a public servant while performing his official duties.

The aforementioned crime is punished by a fine or imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years.
