Detained activist Nino Datashvili underwent a psychiatric examination in a penitentiary instead of a psychiatric facility.
Datashvili’s lawyer, Tamar Gabodze, made the relevant statement at today’s hearing.
According to Gabodze, “experts from Samkharauli Forensics Bureau quietly sneaked into prison yesterday so that Datashvili would not be transferred to a psychiatric facility for an examination.”
According to the lawyer, psychiatrist David Maghradze visited Datashvili.
“On the one hand, the ruling stated that Nino should have been examined in an inpatient facility. On the other hand, they conducted an outpatient examination. They also misled the Samkharauli Bureau, as if an outpatient examination had been scheduled, and they falsely made them interview Nino. Why did you conduct an outpatient examination if you believe that inpatient care was necessary? If you believe that Nino’s hospitalization was necessary, why did you sneak in?
Answer the public. They are trying to fix this now,” says lawyer Gabodze.
For information, last week, the Partnership for Human Rights reported that the Prosecutor’s Office requested a psychiatric examination of detained activist Nino Datashvili, and the court granted the motion. As lawyer Tamar Gabodze stated, the court granted permission for Nino Datashvili's involuntary transfer to a psychiatric facility.
