National Movement and Coalition for Change lost their electoral numbers due to not applying to CEC to participate in local government elections

The two subjects that applied to us for the use of numbers, but did not apply to participate in the elections, will have their numbers - 4 [Coalition for Change] and 5 [Unity National Movement] drawn in the draw, - CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili said at the meeting held at the Central Election Commission.

According to him, in total, 17 parties applied to participate in the local government elections, and 5 electoral subjects that participated in the 2024 parliamentary elections were assigned the numbers they had during the parliamentary elections.

“The application process ended at 18:00 on August 8, and as of today, a total of 17 political unions have applied to the CEC for participation in the elections, of which 14 subjects are already registered, and the process with three subjects is under review and a decision will be made within the time limits provided for by law.

It is important for the institution that all subjects have equal conditions for participating in the elections. The application period has ended. We have decided to discuss this issue within a tight time limit in order to promptly assign numbers to the parties, which will be used in their information election campaigns.

The 5 political unions that applied to us within the time limits will be directly assigned the numbers with which they participated in the parliamentary elections last year. In the case of 12 subjects, the numbers will be decided in the draw.

The two subjects that applied to us for the use of numbers, but did not apply to participate in the elections, will have their numbers - 4 [Coalition for Change] and 5 [Unity National Movement] decided in the draw,” said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

In addition, according to the draw, election number 4 went to the party Georgian Unity, and election number 5 to the party Our United Georgia.
