The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia welcomes the agreement reached on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., through the mediation of US President Donald Trump, on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia - the agreement is a significant step towards establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region, - reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
As stated in the statement, the achievement of an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia opens up new opportunities for the long-term and stable development of the region.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia welcomes the historic agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia” reached on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., through the mediation of US President Donald Trump, between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
This historic agreement is a significant step towards establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region and paves the way for new opportunities for the long-term and stable development of the region.
Georgia firmly supports the consolidation of peace in the region and the strengthening of cooperation, which will be aimed at the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus region.
We particularly welcome the outstanding contribution and efforts of the United States of America and President Donald Trump personally in ending the decades-long conflict in the South Caucasus.
We hope that this historic event will have a chain reaction effect in terms of peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Black Sea region and the world as a whole,” reads the statement.
