Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: We are working to make the transit of our citizens possible as soon as possible - we also call on Russia to send deported Ukrainian citizens directly to the Ukrainian border with Russia or Belarus

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the involvement of the Embassies of Ukraine in the Republic of Georgia and Moldova, as well as in cooperation with international humanitarian organizations, continues to work on the issue of the return of Ukrainian citizens to their homeland - the Ukrainian side is actively cooperating with official representatives of the Georgian and Moldovan authorities in order to unblock the transit route as soon as possible and resolve all logistical and organizational obstacles, - reads the comment of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which was disseminated by the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia.

According to the ministry, over the past month, they managed to organize the return of 44 Ukrainian citizens from the Dariali border checkpoint and are now working to “make the transit of the remaining citizens possible as soon as possible”.

“The humanitarian situation at the Georgian checkpoint Dariali on the border with the Russian Federation is under constant control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

On the night of August 6-7, a representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia arrived at the Russian-Georgian border, where he met with our compatriots who are at the checkpoint as a result of the actions of the Russian Federation.

The diplomat informed them about the measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia to protect their rights and legitimate interests.

On August 7, three citizens were provided with medical assistance and relevant medical protocols were drawn up. An agreement was reached with the Georgian side on the provision of emergency medical assistance to our citizens if necessary.

On August 8, a representative of the deported Ukrainian citizens, with whom our diplomats are in constant communication, informed the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia about the cessation of the hunger strike of our compatriots, which was announced on August 5. He also thanked the diplomatic mission for its efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis artificially created by the Russian side.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the involvement of the Embassies of Ukraine in the Republic of Georgia and Moldova, as well as in cooperation with international humanitarian organizations, continues to work on the issue of the return of Ukrainian citizens to their homeland.

We are working to ensure that the transit of the remaining citizens becomes possible as soon as possible.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again renews its call to the Russian side, voiced by the Foreign Minister, to send the deported Ukrainian citizens directly to the Ukrainian border with the Russian Federation or Belarus.
