Competition announced for selection of heads and members of precinct election commissions

For the 4 October municipal elections, the District Election Commissions (DECs) have announced a competition to select the leaders and members of Precinct Election Commissions (PECs).

According to the Central Election Commission, at 3,051 polling stations, a total of 39,663 PEC members will serve voters. Out of these, the DECs are to select 9,153 leaders and 15,255 members. The remaining 15,255 members may be appointed by authorized political parties.

Applicants wishing to participate in the competition must submit their applications to the relevant DEC from 11 to 14 August, between 10:00 and 18:00. Alternatively, applicants may submit their competition documentation via the dedicated electronic platform (Konkursi.cec.gov.ge).

To simplify procedures, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has developed a recommended application form, which is also available at DECs.

It should be noted that, in accordance with the requirements of the law, the DEC will select certified PEC members, as holding a certificate is mandatory for PEC members appointed by the DEC. To facilitate the acquisition of this certificate, the election administration has organized certification examinations across the country several times since 2023, including this year. In addition, educational and training projects have been implemented to inform potential members and develop their competencies.
