During the protests, a member of the “United National Movement,” Anatoli Gigauri, was sentenced to two years in prison.
Judge Jvjebe Nachkebia reclassified the charge brought against Anatoli Gigauri under Article 353^1, which concerns assault on a police officer, and found him guilty of the crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which refers to resistance, threats, or violence against a public order officer.
At today’s hearing, Anatoli Gigauri delivered his final statement.
For reference, Anatoli Gigauri was arrested by law enforcement on November 25. According to the investigation, the defendant assaulted a patrol inspector who was present at the scene to maintain public order and physically attacked him.
