Mikheil Kavelashvili: Georgia supports the formula of peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and always expresses its readiness to contribute to the process of promoting peace and constructive cooperation in the region

“We welcome the steps taken by Azerbaijan and Armenia toward establishing lasting peace, which should contribute to advancing peace and stability in the region,” Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili stated during a joint briefing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to Kavelashvili, Georgia supports the formula of peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and consistently expresses its readiness to contribute to promoting peace and constructive cooperation in the region.

“At the meeting, we discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region and our joint efforts to address these challenges. We have repeatedly stated, and I would like to reiterate, that Georgia supports the formula of peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and always expresses its readiness to contribute to the process of promoting peace and constructive cooperation in the region. We welcome the steps taken by Azerbaijan and Armenia toward establishing lasting peace, which should contribute to advancing peace and stability in the region,” Kavelashvili declared.

Kavelashvili emphasized the importance of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral format.

“Given the existing geopolitical realities, regional cooperation has gained even greater importance, aiming to promote peace and stability as well as the development of our countries. In this regard, the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral format is an excellent example of how countries that respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity can cooperate effectively and successfully, ready to implement the most significant projects for the region,” Kavelashvili stated.

According to Kavelashvili, in the context of security challenges, attention was focused on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“In the context of security challenges, we discussed the full-scale aggression conducted by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the importance of Black Sea basin security, and Turkey’s tireless efforts to contribute to finding dialogue possibilities between the conflicting parties,” Kavelashvili said.

Additionally, according to Kavelashvili, the meeting addressed ongoing developments in the Middle East, where it was noted that Georgia supports the idea of the necessity of establishing peace in the Middle East.
