The General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained three individuals on charges of drug-related offenses – one of the detainees is a district inspector

Employees of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collaboration with the General Prosecutor’s Office, detained three individuals on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and distribution of narcotic substances as a result of investigative, procedural, and operational measures.

This information was disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to their statement, one of the detained individuals is a district inspector from the 2nd Division of the Kutaisi City Department of the Imereti Police Department.

“The investigation established that Kh.Z., born in 1969, a district inspector of the 2nd Division of the Kutaisi City Department of the Imereti Police Department, illegally sold the narcotic substance ‘morphine’ to citizens I.G., born in 1964, and A.B., born in 1960, for material gain.

As a result of personal and residential searches of citizens I.G. and A.B., the narcotic substances ‘morphine’ and ‘buprenorphine’ were seized as evidence, which the accused were illegally possessing.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260(1), 260(2), and 260(4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime carries a penalty of imprisonment ranging from 12 to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the statement reads.
