Archil Museliantsi, detained during protest rallies and accused of deliberately damaging and setting fire to the power source of cameras mounted on a pole in front of the Parliament building, was found guilty by the court and sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment.

This decision was made by Judge Giorgi Arevadze.

According to his explanation, the relevant article provided for 3 to 6 years of imprisonment, but considering Museliantsi’s prior criminal record, an additional year was added to the minimum term, resulting in a 4-year imprisonment sentence for the defendant.

Archil Museliantsi was charged under Article 187, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the destruction or damage of another’s property. This charge carries a penalty of 3 to 6 years of imprisonment.

More specifically, Museliantsi was accused of deliberately damaging the power source of cameras mounted on a pole in front of the Parliament building and setting it on fire to prevent the identification of the faces of individuals present at the protest.
