Calligraphic examination establishes that letter removed from Tornike Rizhvadze’s jacket was written by him

According to Lali Aptsiauri, the lawyer of Aleksi Akhvlediani, the former head of the Maritime Transport Agency, who is accused of negligent storage of firearms, the calligraphic examination established that the letter removed from the jacket of Tornike Rizhvadze, the former chairman of the Ajara government, was written by him.

As Aptsiauri noted, the report of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau was handed over to him several days ago.

Aptsiauri will file a motion at the trial to dismiss the case.

“The expert report confirms that the letter was written by Mr. Rizhvadze, which is important. We request that the case be dismissed.

Mr. Rizhvadze has not been questioned at this stage. There are documents in the case that due to his health condition, it was not possible to question him," Aptsiauri said.

For information, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged Alex Akhvlediani under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to careless storage of a firearm, which led to serious consequences. The aforementioned act provides for imprisonment for a term of up to three years.

Aleksi Akhvlediani has been granted bail of 30,000 GEL as a preventive measure.
