Singer Khatia Tsereteli, detained for facilitating prostitution and providing a place for prostitution, exercises right to remain silent

Singer Irma Kurtanidze, also known as Khatia Tsereteli, detained for facilitating prostitution and providing a place for prostitution, is exercising her right to remain silent. This was stated by her lawyer, Avtandil Chuashvili, to Interpressnews.

The lawyer did not provide further details.

Regarding the case, law enforcement authorities, as a result of investigative actions, detained a total of 12 individuals, including citizens of Georgia and China, among them Khatia Tsereteli, for facilitating prostitution and providing a place for prostitution.

It is not yet clear when a hearing will be held to determine the pre-trial measures for the detained individuals. The prosecution’s position is known: the state will request detention as a pre-trial measure for the accused.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the accused operated Chinese massage parlors in Tbilisi as a front for prostitution, where they facilitated prostitution and provided premises for it.

For reference, the 12 detained individuals have been charged under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 254 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which pertains to facilitating prostitution and providing a place for prostitution. This offense carries a penalty of up to 4 years of imprisonment.
