All twelve individuals arrested on charges of facilitating prostitution and providing a place for prostitution have been sentenced to pre-trial detention

All twelve individuals detained for facilitating prostitution and providing premises for prostitution have been ordered into pre-trial detention as a preventive measure.

According to prosecutor Tea Giorgadze, none of the accused are currently cooperating with the investigation, all are exercising their right to remain silent, and none have admitted guilt.

“The court upheld the prosecution’s motion that detention be applied to all twelve accused. Based on all the arguments presented by the prosecution, the examination of the case materials, and the validity of those arguments, detention was imposed as a preventive measure. There was no admission of guilt during the hearing, and in my opinion, there was no need to hold the session in a closed format,” the prosecutor stated.

According to the prosecutor, the investigation is ongoing, and the circle of individuals involved in the crime may expand.

For reference, the twelve detained individuals have been charged under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 254 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which pertains to facilitating prostitution and providing premises for prostitution. This offense carries a penalty of up to 4 years of imprisonment.

Among the detained is singer Khatia Tsereteli.
