The increasing pressure on civil society organizations in Georgia, including the freezing of their assets, is alarming, according to a statement by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As noted in the statement, Sweden continues to firmly support civil society.

“he increasing pressure on civil society organisations in Georgia is concerning, including the recent freezing of assets. This decision is yet another step in the wrong direction for democracy in Georgia. Sweden maintains its strong support for Georgia’s civil society,” the statement reads.
