Police have arrested a person in Guria on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl.

In particular, as a result of jointly conducted operational-search measures and investigative actions, officers of the Guria and Imereti Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested F.C., born in 1998, who was under probation, on charges of rape.

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

“The investigation established that the accused, born in Guria in 2011, raped M.K. and fled the scene of the incident.

As a result of the operational-search measures and investigative actions conducted, law enforcement officers arrested F.C. as a suspect,” reads the investigation information.

The incident is being investigated under Article 137, Part 4 of the Criminal Code.
