Anton Chechin, who stands accused of drug crimes, sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison

Tbilisi City Court sentenced a citizen of the Russian Federation, Anton Chechin, who is accused of drug crimes, to 8 years and 6 months in prison.

The defendant considers himself innocent.

There was a commotion in the Tbilisi City Court after Judge Jvebe Nachkebia pronounced the verdict. Those present and those inside the building expressed their dissatisfaction. The bailiffs forced several of them to leave the building by force.

Anton Chechin was arrested on December 3, 2024. He is charged under Article 260, Part 6 of the Criminal Code, which refers to the purchase, storage, and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and provides for a sentence of 8 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
