Ministry of Internal Affairs says 16 people have been detained on administrative changes during rally ongoing on Rustaveli Avenue

Law enforcement officers have detained 16 people on administrative changes during a protest rally on Rustaveli Avenue.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on protest participants to stop attempting to gather on the roadway.

"Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been mobilized to maintain public order in connection with the demonstration ongoing on Rustaveli Avenue.

Despite repeated calls by the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees for the participants of the demonstration not to disrupt traffic, they did not obey the lawful request of the police. Based on the above, the police arrested 16 people in accordance with the Administrative Offenses Code.

We call on the participants of the demonstration to stop attempting to gather on the roadway and to express their protest within the limits established by law. The police will respond appropriately to each violation," reads the information.
