Number of people detained at rally on Rustaveli Avenue increase to 23

The number of people detained at the protest rally ongoing on Rustaveli Avenue has increased to 23. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all persons are detained under administrative law.

The agency calls on the participants of the rally to stop attempting to gather on the roadway.

The rally was initially held at the rear entrance of the parliament in parallel with the plenary session. Citizens are protesting the conclusion of the temporary investigative commission on the issue related to the August 2008 war. They tried to block the road several times, but the police did not allow them to do so. At the end of the day, some of the participants of the rally moved to the Theater University, where they tried to block the road. Police detained several people, at least three participants of the rally, on the spot.
