Ministry of Internal Affairs: A person has been detained who, during the rally held on Rustaveli Avenue on September 2, was moving among the participants with a firearm

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police seized a firearm from one of the individuals detained during a rally on Rustaveli Avenue.

The Ministry reports that, as a result of investigative actions, law enforcement officers also seized various types of firearms and ammunition from the detainee’s residence.

“Employees of the Patrol Police Department and the State Security Service, through joint operational and investigative actions, detained M.L., born in 1963, who was moving among the rally participants with a firearm during the protest on Rustaveli Avenue on September 2.

During a personal search of the detainee, a firearm was seized as evidence.

Additionally, as a result of investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms and ammunition from the detainee’s residence.

The investigation is being conducted under parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 7 years,” the statement reads.
