Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained four individuals in Tbilisi and Adjara for the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances. As stated in the information released by the agency, the crimes carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
“As a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 2 in Tbilisi and Adjara, a particularly large amount of narcotic substances was seized—up to 3 kilograms of methadone, 32 packages of various types of narcotic substances prepared for sale, and 140 psychotropic pills. Four individuals were detained.
Those detained for the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances are: a Ukrainian citizen, A.A., born in 1985, and previously convicted Georgian citizens T.N., born in 1992, G.Z., born in 1991, and B.M., born in 1981.
The crimes carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers seized the particularly large amount of narcotic substances as a result of searches of the detainees’ personal belongings, residences, and vehicles. Investigative actions also led to the seizure of materials used for packaging narcotic substances.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 260 of the Criminal Code,” the statement reads.
