Guram Macharashvili: Gakharia mocked Saakashvili about when he would return, and now he himself has to decide which way to come back - by sea or by land, or maybe they’ll send him in a container

“Gakharia mocked Saakashvili about when he would return, and now he himself has to decide which way to come back—by sea or by ordinary land,” said Guram Macharashvili, a deputy from the “People’s Power” party, to journalists.

According to him, Giorgi Gakharia has placed himself in a tragicomic situation.

“The fact that, unfortunately, the ‘National Movement’ and its affiliates behave not only incompetently but also unseriously is evidenced, among other things, by Gakharia’s actions. First, he announced a boycott, then he said the Georgian Parliament was illegitimate, and now he says they should work in the Parliament. He left himself and isn’t coming back. He mocked Saakashvili about when he would return, and now he himself has to decide which way to come back—by sea or by ordinary land, or maybe they’ll send him in a container. He has found himself in such a tragicomic situation,” Macharashvili stated.

For reference, Giorgi Gakharia announced that he does not plan to return to Georgia in the near future. Additionally, Gakharia stated that not using parliamentary mandates was a mistake. He also does not rule out the possibility that the 12 members of his team might take up their mandates in the Georgian Parliament, but he noted that “this will be directly related” to the political environment in the country following the municipal elections.
