“‘Dream’ shouldn’t dream that I will get tired and give up, because my son is absolutely innocent. He has been brutally tortured, and although he was not convicted, he has been locked in a solitary cell for nine months,” said Elene Akhobadze, the mother of convicted Saba Skhvitardize, after the verdict was announced.
She explained that a new stage of the fight for the detained mothers is now beginning.
“They will definitely answer for this. Two years is their thrown-out scraps, which they expect us to be satisfied with, but we are not satisfied because our children are innocent, and we have no intention of stopping. The fight will definitely continue, the fight will definitely begin, and now starts the stage of the mothers’ fight,” Akhobadze stated.
For reference, Saba Skhvitardize, a member of the “Coalition for Change,” was found guilty by the court of intentionally causing minor bodily harm to Mirian Kavtaradze, the head of the Main Department of Detectives of the Tbilisi Police Department.
Judge Jvebe Natchkebia sentenced him to two years in prison.
