In August 2025, the inflation rate in Georgia was 0.3% compared to the previous month, and the annual inflation rate was 4.6%, according to information released by the National Statistics Service.

Regarding core inflation, the agency reports that this indicator stood at 3.0% in August 2025 compared to the same period last year, while the core inflation rate excluding tobacco was recorded at 2.8%.

“The formation of the monthly inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups:

  • Transport: Prices increased by 1.3%, contributing 0.14 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. Prices rose for the operation of personal transport vehicles (2.0%) and transport services (0.7%). However, prices decreased for the purchase of transport vehicles (-0.4%).
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices in this group increased by 0.1%, contributing 0.07 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. Price increases were observed in the subgroups of fruits and grapes (4.3%), milk, cheese, and eggs (3.1%), fish (1.7%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (0.8%), bread and bakery products (0.7%), and sugar, jam, and other confectionery (0.2%). Conversely, prices decreased for vegetables and garden produce (-10.6%) and oils and fats (-0.6%).
  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: Prices in this group increased by 0.7%, contributing 0.05 percentage points to the monthly index. Prices rose for alcoholic beverages (1.5%).
  • Clothing and footwear: Prices in this group decreased by 2.0%, impacting the monthly inflation rate by -0.09 percentage points. Prices decreased for both clothing (-2.1%) and footwear (-1.9%),” the statement reads.

Regarding annual inflation, the formation of the annual inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups:

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices in this group increased by 10.0%, contributing 3.35 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. Price increases were observed in the subgroups of fruits and grapes (15.3%), oils and fats (14.8%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (13.1%), milk, cheese, and eggs (11.8%), fish (10.8%), vegetables and garden produce (10.8%), sugar, jam, and other confectionery (10.2%), bread and bakery products (9.4%), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices (8.4%), and meat and meat products (3.2%).
  • Healthcare: Prices in this group increased by 9.3%, contributing 0.78 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. Prices rose for outpatient medical services (10.8%), hospital services (9.2%), and medical products, appliances, and equipment (7.9%).
  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: Prices in this group increased by 4.7%, contributing 0.3 percentage points to the annual index. Prices rose for both tobacco products (5.5%) and alcoholic beverages (4.0%).
  • Transport: Prices in this group decreased by 2.4%, impacting the annual inflation rate by -0.31 percentage points. Prices decreased for the operation of personal transport vehicles (-3.9%). However, prices increased for the purchase of transport vehicles (0.5%) and transport services (0.3%),” the statement reads.
