The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office will appeal, through appellate procedures, the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, which found Nika Katsia, charged with the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances, not guilty.
As the agency notes, the evidence obtained by the prosecution was thoroughly examined in the Tbilisi City Court. Despite this, the court did not accept the evidence presented by the prosecution and declared the defendant not guilty.
“The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office will appeal, through appellate procedures, the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, which found the defendant not guilty of the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances.
Law enforcement officers detained the defendant on December 7, 2024. He was charged with the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances.
An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendant illegally acquired and possessed 14.50384 grams of the narcotic substance cocaine (base). This narcotic substance was seized by law enforcement officers during a personal search of the defendant on December 7, 2024.
The evidence obtained by the prosecution was fully examined in the Tbilisi City Court. Despite this, the court did not accept the evidence presented by the prosecution, found the defendant not guilty of the charges brought against him, and released him from custody.
The Prosecutor’s Office will appeal the Tbilisi City Court’s ruling to the Tbilisi Court of Appeals within the legally stipulated timeframe, following the receipt of the reasoned judgment,” the statement released by the Prosecutor’s Office reads.
