Prosecutor's Office appeals acquittal of Giorgi Ahobadze

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has appealed the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, according to which doctor Giorgi Ahobadze, accused of drug crimes, was found not guilty. This information was released by Giorgi Ahobadze's lawyer, Mariam Madzgharashvili.

"Yesterday, the prosecutor filed an appeal in Giorgi's case. The fight continues in the Tbilisi Court of Appeal. We will meet there," Mariam Madzgharashvili wrote on Facebook.

On August 6, 2025, the court found doctor Giorgi Ahobadze, accused of drug crimes, not guilty, and he was released from the courtroom. The decision was made by the judge of the Tbilisi City Court, Romeo Tkeshelashvili.

For information, doctor Giorgi Akhobadze was arrested on December 7, 2024, while returning home from a protest rally on Rustaveli Avenue. He was charged under Article 260, Part 6 of the Criminal Code, which refers to the illegal purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotic drugs. The crime is punishable by 8 to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
