We call on the participants in the assembly to obey the lawful instructions of the police and not allow the situation to escalate artificially, - reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, responding to the clashes on Melikishvili Avenue.

As stated in the statement, each violation of the law will be followed by an appropriate legal response.

“Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, immediately after the start of the confrontation between citizens on Melikishvili Avenue in Tbilisi, took appropriate measures to defuse the situation and prevent further escalation of the conflict. However, some citizens are still not obeying the call of law enforcement officers and are violating public order.

We call on the participants of the gathering to obey the lawful instructions of the police, not to allow the situation to escalate artificially, otherwise law enforcement officers will apply measures established by law, and each fact of violation of the law will be followed by appropriate legal response,” reads the statement.

For information, a confrontation took place between representatives of the youth wing of the Georgian Dream and the participants of the rally on Melikishvili Avenue near the election headquarters of Kakha Kaladze.
