Megi Diasamidze, who was arrested for damaging Kakha Kaladze's election banner, has been granted a 2,000-GEL non-custodial bail and released from courtroom

Tbilisi City Court has granted activist Megi Diasamidze, who is accused of damaging the election banner of Tbilisi mayoral candidate Kakha Kaladze, a non-custodial bail of 2,000 GEL as a preventive measure. Accordingly, Diasamidze was released from the courtroom.

It is noteworthy that the Prosecutor's Office requested the use of custodial bail - the defendant's release only after paying the bail.

As for the circumstances of the incident, according to Prosecutor Nino Zhvania, defendant Megi Diasamidze wrote an inscription with black paint and damaged two election banners of Kakha Kaladze. According to her, each banner costs 190 GEL.

“We believe that she has the potential to continue criminal activity, influence witnesses, and hide. She deliberately damaged someone else’s property in a demonstrative manner and in front of other people, which caused significant damage,” the prosecutor said.

According to her, Megi Diasamidze is known for committing administrative offenses in public places and is prone to committing similar crimes.

According to lawyer Shota Tutberidze, the case is politically motivated and the goal is to prevent Diasamidze from attending protests.

For information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 3 people, including Megi (Irma) Diasamidze, as part of an investigation into the events that took place on Melikishvili Avenue in Tbilisi on September 8-9. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Megi Diasamidze damaged the election banner of the Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party on Melikishvili Avenue.
