Tbilisi City Court has applied pre-trial detention against Ukrainian citizens arrested for illegal purchase and storage of explosives and illegal importation of explosives across the Georgian customs border.
Judge Eka Barbakadze did not grant the defense’s motion for bail, agreed with the prosecution’s motion and left the defendants in custody.
The judge scheduled the next hearing for November 3 at 12:00.
For information, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged two Ukrainian citizens with illegal purchase, storage, transportation, sale of explosives and illegal importation of explosives across the Georgian customs border. The information was released by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office. According to them, an investigation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Center of the State Security Service established that on September 10, 2025, a truck crossed the state border from Turkey, heading from Ukraine to Georgia, via Romania and Bulgaria, and entered the country through the Sarpi customs checkpoint.
