Prosecutor's Office charges female arm wrestler with child abuse

The Georgian Prosecutor's Office has charged female arm wrestler Khatia Vibliani with abusing a minor.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the charge carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

“The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person with violence committed against a minor with prior knowledge. An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on September 11 of this year, the accused physically abused a minor in a store in Tbilisi, and then continued the physical violence against him in the vicinity of the store.

The accused was charged under Article 126, Part One, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (beating that caused physical pain to the victim, but did not result in the consequences provided for in Article 120 of the Criminal Code, committed against a minor with prior knowledge), which provides for up to two years of imprisonment.

"The Prosecutor's Office will apply to the court for the use of a preventive measure against the accused within the time limit established by law," reads the information released by the investigative agency.
