Annual Georgian Wounded Warriors Charity Run

On September 13th the third annual charity run was held to honor Georgian wounded warriors. The event was supported by Silknet, The Ministry of Defense of Georgia and Georgian Defense Forces, along with the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association (TDAA) and Wounded Warrior Support Foundation (WWSF). WWSF was founded in 2018 by Silknet for taking care of wounded warriors and their families and uniting the society around this idea. Since its establishing, the fund’s friends are representatives of diplomatic corpus, ambassadors and defense attaches. This charity run was initiated three years ago by the Tbilisi Defense Attache Association with the aim of supporting the Georgian Wounded Warriors. This year’s charity run had a significantly larger scale in compare to the ones held in previous years.

The charity run was participated by military servicemen of Georgian Defense Forces and wounded servicemen, Defense Volunteer Organizations and Georgian Diplomatic Community participate as well as their friends and family members. The special spirit of good mood was added to the sport event by the active participation of little ones.

Like last year, there were three different options for a running distance: 3KM Fun Run/Walk, 5KM Competitive Trail Run, and 13KM Competitive Trail Run. The three fastest female and male participants were awarded with medals in both the 5KM and 13KM trail runs. First place winners got prizes from Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel.

The registration fee for all distances was 50 GEL. The process was handled by TKT.ge. The fee included a branded T-shirt and a commemorative medal. 100% of the proceeds from registration is transferred to the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation. This year the biggest amount was raised compared to the previous years – 13 750 GEL.

The charity run was supported by TKT.ge, Lisi Lake, Trail Lab, Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel, Lithuanian Bakery and Sip N Snack. Wounded Warrior Support Foundation thanks all the organizers and supporters.

Wounded Warrior Charity Run was a clear example of how the good cause can unite people in order to take care and pay respect to the wounded warriors and their families.
